Butterfly Jungle

D and his best buddy. They're a couple of old souls.

We went to San Diego Wild Animal Park (I think it's called Safari Park now). Right now for a limited time they have Butterfly Jungle. It was really amazing because there were so many butterflies flying around. When we went last year it was near the end of the exhibit so there weren't as many butterflies. Sadly, again this year no butterflies landed on us.

weekend w

We got wet. I didn't mind it just meant more time with my man.
They said it was going to be a big storm but I didn't really believe it. It was so windy we had to stay an unexpected extra day. No boats were running on Sunday due to weather.
Crazy weather
It was raining and Sunday...I couldn't help but bake! I have Martha Stewart's Everyday Food app on my phone. I really like this app because you can save your favorite recipes. It's like I always have my cookbook with me.

Rainy weekend

It rained again this weekend in our neck of the woods. After leaving church Sunday we saw this beautiful rainbow.

Make Over

D and I were being silly together this weekend.
Got a mini make over. Looking like Demi Moore.

Catalina Island

Two Harbors

Tide pool
We saw buffalo. I think they are so cool looking. This guy was huge and rolling in the dirt.
I was looking for green sea glass since it was St. Patrick's Day weekend.
The weekend we decide to go to Catalina there is a big storm headed to the island. The 1st day we did some walking/hiking around before the rain started.

Recharge in Catalina

Pacific Ocean
The Hubby and I set sail to Catalina Island last weekend. We went to visit our fun friends that live on the island and to get away from children for a few days. It's so great to be able to talk about anything and not have to worry about "little ears". We didn't go to the bigger town, Avalon but we stayed in Two Harbors. About 100 people live in Two Harbor. There is general store and 1 restaurant connected to that is 1 bar. There is lots of outdoorsy stuff to do...hike, bike, swim. It's a pretty cool place so if you get a chance to go I highly recommend it.

New Bed

It's here, It's here!
The bed arrived and we only got to sleep in it one night before the Hubby and I went on a weekend get away. We were happy to be away just the 2 of us however we kept talking about how we couldn't wait to get home and sleep in our bed. Now that the boys are getting older a good nights sleep is easier to come by.

Fit for a King
Now that we have the new bed and dresser I am looking forward to decorating our master suite.

Clutch Crazy

I got these 2 magazines looking for some much needed inspiration. I have never seen the magazine House Beautiful before but it has lots of painting ideas. All the walls in our house are white and I am thinking they could use a little color. I love the bedroom on the cover. We have been searching for a King bed for a few months. My tastes kept flip-flopping from modern minimalist to romantic English. I blame Downton Abbey for my indecisiveness. This past weekend we settled on a bed. The bed will be delivered this week and I am looking forward to posting pictures of our new Master Suite.
The other magazine is Stitch it has cool modern sewing ideas. I haven't sewn in so long. I think of sewing everyday and never do it.
Lola Clutch from Stitch magazine
I have never been a clutch person...I think because I've been a diaper bag person for toooo long. I thought clutches were cumbersome. However this Fall I started falling in love with clutches. When we went to the wedding in San Jose a friend had a yellow leather clutch and she carried it all weekend. I saw how versatile and ladylike a clutch can be. I had total clutch envy. I would really like to make this Lola clutch using the pattern in Stitch. I am not sure what fabric I will use. It seems like it would be a good weekend project.

Maple Butter

Banana Chocolate Chip and Maple Butter
Monday night I made Maple Butter to take to a potluck. Maple butter is easy to make and oh SO good. I had butter left over and I didn't want to throw it away so I made Banana bread to go with it. D wanted to add a few chocolate chips.

Truffula Trees: The Lorax

Happy 108th birthday Dr. Seuss.
You can see the Truffla Trees by the door. You can use pool noodles and electric tape to make the trunks of the tree and multi colored tissue paper for the leaves.

Truffula Trees

D's preschool has been taken over by Dr. Seuss! In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday all week long D's school will be doing Seuss projects. Some of the parents made trees like in the book The Lorax. I think the Truffula trees turned out great. They are so colorful I hope they stay up the rest of the year.
