More painting

 Living room and Dining room
Finished Dining room wall.
So after the success in the bathroom. I got the confidence to pick some more colors and ditch the white walls. I picked darker paint colors. My reasoning was our dining room and living room both have full size sliding glass doors that gives a lot of light to both rooms. I get so nervous picking colors. However I like the colors. The Hubby and I got a lot done in 1 day.

Where'd You Go Bernadette?

Love, Love, Loved this book! Where'd You Go Bernadette is a fresh modern novel. It is about a family living in Seattle planning a trip to Antarctica and the Mom goes missing. This novel by Maria Semple is new in paperback. The story is told by the daughter trying to understand where her Mother disappeared to. She has put together bunches of emails, school memos, faxes and letters to explain it all. It's a funny book. I loved the flawed and phobic character, Bernadette.

Zucchini Bread

Today I baked Zucchini Bread. I got this recipe from a Mom at D's preschool. I modified a few things like substituting apple sauce for vegetable oil. I also don't add any nuts or dried fruit. This bread is a great after school snack.
ZUCCHINI BREAD

DRY:
::3 1/4 cup all purpose flour
::1 teaspoon salt
::1 teaspoon baking soda
::2 teaspoon baking powder
::1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
::1 teaspoon cinnamon
::1 1/2 cups sugar
::1 1/2 cup brown sugar

WET:
1/2 cup apple sauce
3 cups grated zucchini...about 2 good sized zucchinis
1/2 cup milk
5 eggs (lightly beaten)

In a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl combine apple sauce, eggs, milk and zucchini. Pour wet ingredients into dry and fold. Pour into a greased bread pan (you can make these into muffins) Bake at 350 for an hour.

Paint color of the year, Aloe

Before
 This weekend we gave the boys' bathroom a little makeover. The Hubby did all the work. However I picked the paint color and handles. The color we used is Sherman-Williams color of the year, Aloe. I like this color for our bathroom because it reminds me of an old dentist medicine cabinet. We don't have a window in the front bathroom but I think the paint really brightens up the room.
After
Now we need new towels.

It was hard to pick one style.

Revlon Run 2013!

 I think we need to wear pink this year.
Stacy Keibler, Halle Berry and Mario Lopez were 2012 celebrity ambassadors.
I am getting ready for EIF Revlon Run/Walk in Los Angeles. It is a month away and I need to start hitting the pavement! If you want to get involved or just find out more information you can visit EIF Revlon Run/Walk My friend, Kristina and I had a blast Last year raising money for women's cancer. After 9 years doing this I think we should have a team name I am not sure yet what celebrities will be there this year. Emma Stone and Olivia Wilde will be at the NYC race.

Mamas don't let your daughters grow up to be Snooki...

We can ALL agree Audrey Hepburn was a classy woman. It seems like she had endless style. Audrey didn't get caught up in her own celebrity. She put her fame to good use becoming a UNICEF ambassador. The children's book Just Being Audrey By Margaret Cardillo is a biography with beautiful water colors geared toward elementary school girls. I love this book! It's a reminder to be yourself. I've seen one to many Victoria Secret commercial this week! I feel very strongly that you don't need to act dumb or be trashy to get noticed. I want to send this book to Lindsay Lohan to read while she is in rehab. Just Being Audrey shows little girls that kindness is beautiful. I don't have daughters however I think this book is a great edition to any girl's home library.

Spring Break in San Diego

 At the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa park.
Most spring breaks (and summers) I focus on History and English projects. However this year we are all about math and science. We visited the science center in Balboa Park. The museum has lots of hands on experiments. The visiting exhibit is about space but more details on comets and meteorites. I was worried that D was getting a little freaked out because there is a lot of information about how scientist think the dinosaurs died. Scientist believe a 6 mile wide meteorite hit earth.

 Kicking it old school
 After the museum we went on the carousel. The carousel is so charming it was built in 1910. F.W. grabbed the brass ring so he got to ride again for free.
