Valentine's Day Photo Backdrop

Rows of hearts was our backdrop for classroom Valentine's Day pictures.
D's teacher bought pink and white string, pink clothes pins, large foam hearts, ribbon and jewels. Everything we used was bought at Michael's.

After the photoshoot D's teacher took down the hearts. She turned them into Valentine's to give to the kids.

Super Hero Valentine

 Up up and away!
I got the idea from Pinterest. I love this because it's boyish and easy. I had all the supplies at home the only thing I had to buy was the tootsie pop.

DIY Valentine's Day backdrop

Valentine's Day is fast approaching, D's teacher wanted to do a special project with her class for the occasion. Last year she had a "photo shoot" with her class. The pictures turned out amazing. The parents loved their gift. This year she wanted to take the kids picture but she was thinking a different background. D's teacher is super creative and a great friend of mine. I suggested a chalkboard backdrop. Chalkboards seem to be all the rage in wedding photos and on Pinterest.
You'd think being at a school we would be able to find a chalkboard but everyone has a Promethean or white boards. We didn't let this stop us.
We used black butcher paper and chalk. Then we taped the paper to a bulletin board.

Need some chocolate in the New Year?

Chocolate Cookies
I tried a new cookie recipe for New Years. If you are in need of chocolate these are the cookies for you.
I got the recipe from Martha Stewart's Cookies. These cookies are chocolaty goodness. They are easy to make. I still have dough left over and I am going to crush some candy canes to roll the raw dough in before I bake them. You could make these for Valentine's Day by rolling the dough in pink or red sanding sugar.

Pre heat oven to 350
2 Cups flour
3/4 cup unsweetened Dutch process cocoa powder
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
pinch of salt
1 1/4 cup butter (2 1/2 sticks)
2 Cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla
Sanding Sugar for rolling (optional)
Sift together Flour,Baking Soda, pinch of salt and Cocoa powder in a medium bowl.
Beat Butter and Sugar on medium speed till light and fluffy about 2 minutes. Add Eggs and Vanilla till well combined. Reduce speed and mix in flour mixture. Form dough into flat disk and refrigerate dough for about an hour.
Preheat oven to 350 Roll dough into balls you can roll them in sanding sugar (I did not). Bake 10-12 minutes.
