Yee Ha-lloween
F.W threw his Halloween costume together at the last minute. I think he looks so handsome and warm. This year Halloween was a strange night for us. D is just getting over strep throat so he wasn't up for much. We walked around for 45 minutes. Our neighborhood was dead. We didn't get any trick-or-treaters at our house but we did get tricked. Someone ran off with D's Jack-O-Lantern. This morning we found it smashed in the neighbor's driveway. He was very upset about it. Poor guy.

Candy Corn Nails
Getting in the Halloween spirit. I painted my nails candy corn. It is easy to do but time consuming. Start by painting your nails orange. I recommend painting the orange base coat the day before. Cut strips of tape and place them horizontally on your nails. paint above the tape yellow. Paint below the tape white. Peel the tape off and apply a top coat of clear nail polish.

Halloween Books for Kids

| Fun for everyone |
The Halloween Play By Felicia Bond is a short and sweet.
10 Trick-or-Treaters By Janet Schulman fun with math. Who doesn't like to count candy?
The Halloween Kid By Rhode Montijo Love this book!
Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet By Diane de Groat good for k-3rd grade.
| On the scary side |
Vampire Boy's Good Night By Lisa Brown
Boris and Bella By Carolyn Crimi
The Halloween Kid By Rhode Montijo is by far our favorite Halloween book. It is really fun to read aloud with a twangy southern accent. This book inspired D's Halloween costume.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle...
This Halloween both the boys wanted to dress up as something I couldn't buy at Party City. So the Hubby and I went head to head in a costume building composition. The challenge was for him to help FW be a shower. His inspiration: the original Karate Kid. I had to help D become Leonardo aka the blue Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. I think both the costumes turned out great! Happy Halloween
D was a very lucky turtle. He got to go trick or treating with both his Grandmas, an Aunt and Mom&Dad!Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Oma's Pumpkin Patch
You know you are at a California pumpkin patch when there are palm trees and it's 80 outside!
The kids really enjoyed moving the rubber ducks using a water pump.
Hey Cowboy
Having a son means having to take a lot of butt pictures.
Every year we go to the pumpkin patch with my friend Karen and her family. We went to kindergarten together and we've been friends ever since. Karen is the Mom of 3 lovely girls. We don't live super close to each other but we try to get the families together seasonally. This year we went to Oma's pumpkin patch in Lakeside. They do not grow pumpkins at Oma's but it is a working self sustaining dairy farm. Very interesting for my city boys.Monday, November 1, 2010
Halloween
Laura's party table
So many goodies

Macgurber!

Halloween being on a Sunday was fun. It was like a 3 day Halloween celebration. My sister had a great Halloeeen party for all her nephews. I didn't do home made costumes for the kids this year. However they did reuse the trick or treat bags I made for them last year. I'll find any reason to wear a wig.

Just came across this picture...I can't believe Dr. G was ever that small! The kids are still mulling over what they want to be for Halloween.
On a more serious note today in 9/11. It is crazy it has been 9 years. It still seems very fresh in my mind. Not to long ago I watched the movie Return to Me. I had no idea the plot revolved around 9/11. After that movie I was in a bit of a funk for a few days. However today I plan on being a wonderful person and trying to do small acts of kindness in honor of Americans who left their homes in the morning and never returned.

Something you don't see every day...A Banana beating up Andy Kaufman!

Something you don't see every day...A Banana beating up Andy Kaufman!
So sorry to see Halloween go! It was a wonderful night and the kids got lots of candy for Mom and Dad insert evil laugh. Dr. G was a monkey and F.W. was Andy Kaufman which not to many people got but F.W thought it was awesome!

Now that Thanksgiving is fast approaching its time to put my sewing into high gear for X-Mas gifts. I am planning on making Dr.G a super cape for when he is saving animals. I've made him a couple capes out of his big brother's old t shirts but I want to make him a special one with a D on the back! I also want to make taxi tote for a friend.
I am looking for a pattern to make a table runner. I haven't had any luck all the patterns I find are quilts which I don't want.

Crafty

I've made a grand total of 6 Trick or Treat bags! I am pretty happy with the results each bag gets better and better! I have one finally bag to make by Saturday for my nephew. I also started a bag for my sister from a cut and sew pattern. I am really loving sewing especially at night when everyone is asleep.
