I took the boys to Disneyland for Mardi Gras. We saw Princess Tiana's Mardi Gras parade at least 4 times. The boys really liked Trazan's tree house and the pirate island. I think they could of hung out there all day.

Madeleine
2nd try turned out twice as nice
I found a lot of recipes online for Madeleines but it seemed no two were the same. The recipe I settled on is a very basic vanilla cookie from Williams-Sonoma Foods of the World, Paris By Marlena Spieler. The 1st batch I made I used whole wheat flour so the texture was kind of gritty and I burned them. The second batch I used All Purpose Flour and they turned out great! I think better than Starbuck's. I can't wait to try Maple Madeleine next!Saturday, February 18, 2012
Madeleine
My whole family enjoys eating Madeleines. Are they a cookie...Are they a cake? I've often wanted to try making these little delights. However you need a special pan and that just made Madeleine seem complicated to me. I took my first step in mastering a cakey and tender Madeleine by buying the pan.
My partner in crime.

and he shall call her Cupcake...
Since D hasn't started going to school full time we spend a lot of time together. I am always trying to think of ways to fill our day. When we went to Clay and Play I made the decision to let him have total creative control. Whatever colors he wanted or if it is a little sloppy I would stay out of it and just let him do his thing. It was hard to keep my mouth shut but the end result is total D art work.
We had a lot of fun and he was so proud of his work.
He named her Cupcake. She kind of has a Dr. Suess look to her.

Grey Gloves
I bought these fingerless gloves from etsy.com. I thought San Jose would be a nice weather change from San Diego. However it was beautiful and sunny the whole time we were there, so I didn't get to wear my gloves.
I wanted to share a fun website that is giving FREE quilt classes. If your like me quilts seem a little intimidating. I've never made a quilt before but I would really like to try. You learn 2 new squares a month and by the end of the year you have a throw quilt.
