Bowtie Bun

Today was wacky hair day at school. I didn't want to be out done by a bunch of preschoolers! I think bow buns are cute but I never had an excuse to try it before today. I am sure I'd get some stares if I walked around Costco like this. I found a very easy how to at www.mrkate.com. I didn't even need to use bobby pins. It helps if your hair is a little dirty.
You can go to www.mrkate.com for a video tutorial and bring out your inner Lady Gaga!

Wayfarers Chapel

Wayfarers Chapel

The boys enjoyed running on the lush lawn.

Cute little family in the little chapel.
This past weekend we went to Rancho Palos Verdes, CA for my youngest nephew's baptism. I'd never been to Wayfarers Chapel. It is very small and it sits above the Pacific Ocean. It was built in 1951 by Frank Lloyd Wright's son, Lloyd Wright. It is all glass and stone surrounded by trees. Some people call it the glass chapel. Lloyd Wright liked to call it the tree chapel. I wish I'd taken more pictures inside the chapel however I was kind of caught up in the moment enjoying the baptism and I forgot to take pictures. So all I have is before and after. He is a sweet baby boy and we are blessed to have him in our family. The chapel is very peaceful and open to the public. So anyone can stop by and enjoy the view.

Orange

I am really into Orange right now!

I love the surprise fabric on the inside.
Elegance Pleated Clutch from Bags the Modern Classics By Sue Kim
My latest clutch. It is a gift for my sister's birthday. I saw this fabric and I thought of her. It's so Palm Springs. She is into navy blue so the zebra print on the inside is a cheeky surprise.  I was able to start and finish this sewing project in 1 day! I am sort of looking forward to D starting Kindergarten. It's crazy what you can get done in a day without distractions.

Super Heroes & Capes

 Cape in action.
 Able to leap tall buildings
Even the Moms wore capes

My favorite superhero wasn't at school today however I had to share a picture of him.
Today was Super Hero day at the pre-school. I made capes out of old shirts that you don't need a pattern, Velcro or a sewing machine. Super easy and every kid got a cape. You take a Tshirt and cut up the side. Cut the sleeves off and cut off the front of the shirt. Just make sure you leave the hole for the head intact. Presto you have a cape. D is still on vacation so he missed Hero day however I know he is having a bunch of fun with his Grandparents. Everyday is Super Hero day with Mr. D.

50 Shades of Grey

Scandalous

Found this fabric at Joann's

So this week Little D is on vacation. He is visiting his Grandparents. This gives me A LOT of free time during the day! I don't know what to do with myself. I am hoping to get some sewing done and read.
I picked up Fifty Shades of Grey. This book has A LOT of buzz around it. It's suppose to be scandalous. I just hope it's not a waste of time. I haven't found a book to hold my interest in a few months EEK. I've mostly been reading books on parenting and cooking. Blah that's why I need a little scandal in my life.

EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women's Cancer

8th year running
Team hats

Lots of people...Good thing we have matching hats so we won't lose each other.

Stacy Keibler and Halle Berry

Big thumbs up. I can't believe she did a 5k in those shoes.
So Friday we went to Disneyland. Last time I was at Disneyland I saw a hat I liked and I regretted not getting it. We walked all over California Adventure and Disneyland looking for this hat. The more shops we went to and didn't find it the more I wanted the hat. We finally found the hat. I convinced Kristina to get it so we could wear matching hats at the walk. Saturday morning we get to the event and Kristina realizes she forgot her running shoes! HA Poor thing jogged in those shoes. It was such a great weekend. There were many moving speeches. I felt so blessed to be healthy.  Together Kristina and I raised $575 for women's cancer.

Happy Mother's Day
It's the best job in the world.

Disneyland

The popcorn at Disneyland is magical! It smells SO good. I love how these little men make the popcorn. Different workers turn the popcorn depending on where you are in the park.

New Star Tours ride is REALLY fun

Downtown Disney

Princesses hanging out by a castle.
I had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend! On our way to LA for the EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women's cancer we stopped at the happiest place on earth.

Birthday Weekend

I had a lot of cute boys at my party!
Birthday nails: Hot Pink and Glitter
I had to get this nail polish because it looks so festive and it's called Sarah. I am not sure how long I will be able to live with candy nails.
I had a fun Birthday weekend. We were busy all weekend so I wouldn't call it a relaxing weekend. F.W had races on May 5th. We got to hang out on the bay and watch him paddle. I baked a vanilla cake and made chocolate frosting. It was a little dry I should have used cake flour...I won't make that mistake again. However I did find a frosting recipe I love because it's not to sweet. I am working on a sewing project. I want to finish it soon so I can share it with you.

Amy Butler's book

My sister got me this book for my birthday.

I am not sure what my next sewing project is going to be. Should I make another bag? Something I could wear? I just don't know. One thing I am proud of is I have no unfinished projects. I start I finish. I think that is why I am apprehensive to start a project because I want to make sure I finish it in a timely manner. I would like to go to a fabric store this Friday and pick a new project.

May Grey or my PSA on skin cancer

F.W. is the 2nd rower from the front of the boat.
I love this weather however it is chilly when you're in the water. I'm glad the sun hasn't gotten to powerful yet. I burn easy especially on my chest. I wish I would have worn sunscreen more often when I was young. In my teens one of my sisters would fake and bake in a tanning bed and I would joke/tease her that she was going to be Grandma No Nose when she got older. Did you know May is National Skin Cancer Awareness month? Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the US. A person's risk of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, doubles if you have had 5 or more sunburns at some point in your life. I went to my Dermatologist today for my biannual full body search. I've had precancerous cells taken off of my nose in the past. This time my Doctor gave me a topical cream to use on my nose AND chest. I have this terrible fear I am going to be Grandma No Nose. My Doctor found 2 abnormal moles on my back. She measured and took a picture to keep an eye on it. I will go back in July to remove one of the moles. The whole visit really bummed me out. What bugs me about skin cancer is the best thing you can do is stay out of the sun but how is that possible in sunny Southern California??Blah

Anyways wear sunscreen people!!
