Spring Scarf

Here is another look at the fabric.
The final product! This scarf is light weight enough that it works in the spring. All you have to do for this project is sew a straight line. However it takes a lot of pressing and going slow so that you keep a straight line.

Easter

Whats in your bag?
This look is Woody meets Thor...Its all over the summer runways

It is not easy to get a picture of these 2 together! This is the best I could do. I was in the kitchen most of Easter. We had a total of 16 people over! I made the veggie sides and Brendan worked the meat. He made some killer ribs. My favorite thing that I made was zucchini with Parmesan. Its so simple! Of course I took no pictures of the food.

I am reading The Postmistress by Sarah Blake. Don't you just love the cover art?! It takes place in a small New England town and it follows a reporter in London the time before the bombing of Peal Harbor. I am more than half way through but I am not sure if I can finish it. Its such a DOWNER! The book is really getting inside my head because I think about the characters through out the day. I know it is fiction however knowing that people really did suffer makes it real to me. I've promised myself if a book has a review saying "a stunning heartbreaking novel" I will not pick it up! I need to find a book with a little bit of sunshine.

So beautiful

I am nervous to start because I don't want to ruin it.

It's Anna Maria lovely scarf project in Silken Sky. I bought it from her website store. It is approximately 12"x88".

Spring+San Diego Wild Animal Park= Butterflies

On Tuesday I made an impromptu decision to drive to the Wild Animal Park. We don't go as often as we visit the zoo because it is usually so HOT. However the weather has been a little grey...what better way to brighten the day than with colorful butterflies? Every spring they have a butterfly exhibit that lasts around 3 weeks. I've always wanted to go. In the past you could stand in line up to 4 hours! Starting this year you get a ticket and a time to see the exhibit.

The inside of these butterflies wings are amazing blue.

Boy Buttercup Bag

Here is the bag inside out. I really love this fabric! D wanted to have the Brown on the outside.

I used the buttercup bag pattern. I didn't bother with the interface becasue it is just a kid's bag to carry around his action figures. It just takes 2 fat quaters to make this "adventure bag" as we are calling it. It wasn't easy to get this boy to hold still long enough to take this picture! I think these would make fun Easter baskets.

Birdie Sling

Last night I finished Amy Butler's Birdie Sling. It is a big bag. My sister is also sewing this bag. I'll post a picture of hers when she finishes.

coffee cozy revisited

This is one of the 1st coffee cozies I ever made AHH. A friend sent me this picture. I am so happy she is still using it!!!

I should be working on my birdie sling but I am taking a little break because I've hit a rough patch. I am a little confused about making the handle. I am so close to being done. I just don't want to mess it up! I needed to take a breather before I reread the directions.

Birdie sling bag

I wasn't kidding about really wanting to start another bag!!! This is all Amy Butler! I am using Amy Butler fabric and the Birdie Sling bag. Here is a picture of the lining. I am keeping the outer fabric a secret till I am finished.

Must keep sewing!

Buttercup bag

Sometimes I will find a pattern in a library book that I want. Since you can't cut those pages out I will trace the pattern. The paper at Ikea is just thin enough to make tracing easy yet durable.
This is the buttercup bag I finished tonight. It is pretty small. It holds my cellphone and lipstick & that's about it. I got this pattern free from made by Rae (madebyrae.blogspot.com)

It's funny I just finished this bag and I am itching to make another bag already!!

April Fools

As a kid I loved April Fools. I remember coming up with elaborate plans to trick my parents. One year I froze a fake bug in an ice cube tray and severed it my Dad's drink. Now that I am older I am not the biggest fan of April 1 probably because I get fooled easy. This morning at 6:45am FW ran into my room said he woke up and the dog wasn't in his room AND the garage door was left open. I had a feeling his story seemed like baloney but I found my glasses jumped out of bed. There was the dog in the hall. April Fools! He got me.
